Our Stories

Parents

“We have two very different kids and very different learners.  OLL has challenged and supported both our kids in so many ways.  They are known and seen as individuals but also held to a high standard that makes them aware of how to be part of a thriving community that supports each other.  They have learned to not only treat others well but to actually see others as important members of the OLL family.  OLL continues to nurture my daughter's heart, inspire her mind and ignite her spirit and confidence. We rave about OLL to everyone we know because it feels like home!"

“OLL has impacted my daughter and our family by simply seeing our child for who she is. What really stood out to us, is that OLL wants to see our daughter grow academically, mentally, and emotionally over the school year, at her pace. OLL does not simply lump her into the class or grade to get the best results for the school, but for her specifically. OLL helps our daughter as a whole person and not just academically."

“OLL has given so much more than an education—it has provided him with a loving and supportive environment where he feels safe, valued, and encouraged to grow. Through the guidance of his teachers and the school community, he has gained confidence, strengthened his character, and continues to build a lifelong foundation of faith in God.

As a family, OLL has become a second home to us.  The sense of belonging, care, and support we have experienced has been truly special, and we are grateful to know that both the school and the families around us are always there to support and uplift us.”

“The thing I love most about Our Lady of the Lake is the community and the people who make it so special. Ever since my first day working here, everyone has been so welcoming and has made me feel like I belong right away. OLL is a unique school, full of kindhearted, faith-filled, and inclusive faculty, staff, students, and families. Being a Laker means so much more than just the school you attend; it means caring for others, the world around us,
and trusting in God."

“What I love most about OLL is its welcoming and supportive community. Building meaningful relationships with students is one of the most rewarding parts of my work, and their enthusiasm and kindness make each day a joy. I am also grateful to work alongside such dedicated and inspiring colleagues, who help create an environment where everyone feels valued and encouraged to grow.”

“What makes teaching at Our Lady of the Lake truly special is the strong sense of community. From the moment you walk through the doors, you feel the support, kindness, and genuine care of our families and staff. When I joined the school during the pandemic, I was welcomed with open arms, making what could have been a challenging transition a seamless one. The many students, families, and educators who choose to return year after year are a testament to the welcoming and supportive culture that makes OLL such a wonderful place to learn and grow.”

“What I love most about OLL is that our students are encouraged to discover and develop all of their gifts. They aren't defined by just one activity or talent. Here, students have the opportunity to be athletes, artists, leaders, performers, scholars, and friends. Seeing them embrace new opportunities and grow into confident, well-rounded young people makes OLL a truly special place to teach.”

“OLL is a place you carry with you long after graduation.  The traditions, songs, lessons, prayers, and friendships stay with you for a lifetime. Returning as a parent 23 years after graduating, I have been struck by both the familiarity and the continuity of the community, from seeing familiar faces among the staff and fellow parents, to watching my own son experience many of the same cherished traditions that shaped my childhood.  What stands out even more is how OLL has continued to grow and evolve, finding new ways to support and inspire its students while remaining true to its core values. It is a community that is uniquely welcoming, deeply supportive, and truly feels like home. ”

“Our Lady of the Lake Parish School has been “home” to two generations of Donahue/Corums, which is not unusual in this multi-generational School and Parish in North East Seattle. Our OLL “home” has always strived to educate the whole child; academically, spiritually, physically, emotionally and socially. The highly capable teachers and staff
(many of whom are Alumni)
have partnered with parents or guardians to prepare our children to face the world and its challenges not only in the 50’s, but in the vastly different 2000’s and beyond. Our “home” welcomes everyone and embraces them once they walk through our front door!”
