Sixth - 8th Grade

All middle school students participate in Speech as part of the academic program at OLL because we believe communication, presentation, speaking, and listening skills are essential tools for leadership and lifelong success.

Students strengthen:

• Public speaking confidence
• Presentation and communication skills
• Speech writing and organization
• Active listening and discussion skills
• Critical thinking and persuasion
• Leadership presence and self-advocacy

Speech instruction helps students develop confidence in expressing ideas clearly, thoughtfully, and respectfully while preparing them to become articulate and self-assured leaders both inside and outside the classroom.

Students who develop a passion for public speaking may also participate in OLL’s extracurricular Speech Team program.
